HI INTERNETS! HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

How's things? I've been on sort of an unofficial hiatus due to a bad mood of indeterminate origins (though I suspect it's mostly a February funk). This is about the time of year where I'm all, "OKAY I AM DONE WITH YOU NOW, WINTER!" Anyway, avoiding people when I'm grumpy = fewer apologies I have to make later for moody jackassery. :D I did go out with some friends IRL over the weekend and I'm feeling much more cheerful. \o/

Since I have been away, you get an infodump of randomness!

♥♥♥

This made my morning. How are they all so adorable? Lol @ Jared and Misha. It kind of makes me want to write fic where Misha is constantly trying to one-up Jared and every time Jared is all, "AH HA, PWNAGE!" and Misha's like, "How does this keep happening???" and then Jared tops the hell out of him and Misha's like, "OIC now..." and is okay with the pwnage as long as it comes with sexytimes (he still slyly tries to get the better of Jared, but Jared is only smugly amused by it).

I also love the quote about "Miss Genevieve" and possibly got a little wibbly and naw'd out loud. Seriously, they're such a charming group. It makes me a happy fangirl.

♥♥♥

In other delightful news, I discovered that Spartacus is available for streaming on Netflix. GUESS WHAT I'M DOING THIS WEEK?

♥♥♥

I recently started following the Daily Show's twitter and clapped with delight at this tweet:

Bored Hiatus Tweet 3: Spent the day looking for the Cash Cab. #onlyfoundrealones

I was just talking about Cash Cab!! Also, A++ for clever hashtag usage.

♥♥♥

In an attempt to alleviate grumpiness the other day, I fell down a rabbit hole of JDM youtube vids and ended up rewatching all of his Craig Ferguson appearances. I sort of ship them in that way where I don't really want fic, but OMG so adorable! Then I watched some of Kristen Bell's appearances and now I really really really want JDM and KB to be on Craig Ferguson at the same time and watch them all chat and be hilariously adorable and awesome together. Dear Universe, my birthday's coming up...

♥♥♥

I was watching Friends earlier and was ready to post this big huge rant about how much I hate the trope of love triangles where the two who are "meant to be" basically act like horrible people but it's okay because they're MFEO!! But I don't have the energy now. Sigh. Maybe some other time.

♥♥♥

Justified came back last week!! HOORAY!! I enjoy this show because it is fun and amusing, but mostly because Timothy Olyphant is a Sir-ish HOTASS. This is why I watched Deadwood as well. I am predictable, what can I say?

♥♥♥

Hmmm, okay. I think that's actually it. Happy V-day to you all! Single or taken, it's a good excuse for a little indulgence for yourself and your loved ones. ♥!! I think I'm going to indulge by watching some Spartacus. Nothing says festive Valentine's fun times like boobs and sodomy*. <- Can be taken so many ways...

♥ Every time I watch Cash Cab, I think of the friends I have in and around the NYC area and then I think, "Damn, a cab full of fangirls would KILL at that game!" The breadth of our combined knowledge is wide and varied. There's no way we could lose! ♥

♥ You know your friends are awesome when you check your email first thing in the morning and you have more than one, "J3 SUPERBOWL!!!" type emails waiting for you. In case you weren't gonna check LJ right away. There aren't enough hearts in the world!!

♥ [livejournal.com profile] fab_feb_friends is going on again for the week leading up to V-day. It's a fun way to spread a little love and it's not fandom-specific, so join and play! Today is showing love through icons!

I think that's it for the moment. It's sort of a grey and dreary day outside today, but I have a cup of hot tea, which helps. Grey and dreary days also make me want to steal some ideas from here and put up colorful paper birds or stars all over my room. Much like unicorns, rainbows make everything better!!

SHOW!! Show is back! Yes, I'm late to the party, but I thought I'd throw in my $.02 of episode reactiony thoughts anyway.

( Show! Show show show!!! \o/ )

I have a very important word-usage question:

[Poll #1675791]

***

In other news, I fear I may have eaten something yesterday that did not agree with me. I woke up with an upset tummy, which prevented me from having my coffee, which led to a headache. POOR POOR ME! I've had a couple cups of Irish Breakfast tea, though, which seems to be helping.

Confessions: I am horrible about commenting on art. I have no artistic talent whatsoever (like, I legitimately shouldn't be allowed to decorate things, I am so woefully unskilled), nor have I even taken so much as an art history class. I sort of view people who can do art as nothing short of magical because I don't understand it AT ALL. So I flap about all, "OMG LOOK! YOU MADE THAT!" with the same sort of awe that the little squeaky aliens in Toy Story have for the Claw.

Mostly rhetorical question: How many times can one rewatch that YED!John scene in Devil's Trap before his lack of respect for personal boundaries becomes something other than ridiculously hot?
errant_jane: (JDM No Words)
I realized this evening that I was like 2200 words shy of meeting my [livejournal.com profile] getyourwordsout word count goal for the month. Now, all things considered, this is actually pretty decent. But I am stubborn and contrary, so I asked [livejournal.com profile] laulan if she had any prompts/requests for something quick and silly, and then wrote a story for her because she is awesome and helpful in every possible way and doesn't shun me when I flake out and forget to answer my emails.

The point is sometimes I write stuff to amuse my friends. This is one of those times.

Story: Hotass Jeff's Bar & Grill

From the prompt: JDM owns Jensen's favorite bar. Jensen's been coming there since he turned 21, and he and JDM have been flirting just about as long. Insert lots of Jensen crushing and ordering sexual drinks (sloe screw against the wall, etc.) till JDM finally puts him out of his misery and kisses him senseless.

In other JDM-related news, he for reals called Jared and Jensen "my boys". IT'S LIKE HE KNOWS AND IS TAUNTING US WITH HIS SEXY SEXY UNFNESS!!*

JDM counts as an actualfax legit kink now, y/y? Like I could say, "JDM is my bulletproof kink," and that would be valid (and true!). I should probably go ahead and add that as a tag, actually...

Please note: I do not think that JDM actually knows and is actively taunting us with his sexy sexy unfness. I believe he can't actually help being such an incredible hotass.

The first: I sort of unabashedly love the song "A Little Respect" by Erasure. I refuse to apologize for this.

The second: I watched The Lost Valentine last night and ended up bawling like a baby. Not because it was the Best Ever, but it pulled the right strings. It makes me wonder if younger generations will have the same sort of visceral response to WWII stories as those from my generation and up. I think I'm at the end of the stretch where those are our grandparents, so something like The Lost Valentine strikes a chord because you've heard similar stories from (and/or about) your grandparents/great aunts and uncles/etc.

Meh. I'm not being very articulate at the moment. Maybe just that WWII stories seem very familial and personal because we (of a certain age) can attach them to specific people. I wonder if those stories will continue to have such an impact because that generation was what it was, or if the fascination will start to fade.

Or maybe I'm just a big ridiculous sap and Hallmark makes me cry. That is also entirely possible.

Yes, sir!

I have never wanted to attend a con more. WHAT EVEN? I CAN'T- It is entirely possible my brain short-circuited at the thought. If there is any celebrity I would make an absolute idiot of myself in front of, he'd probably be it.

I'll be over here telling myself that it's best I don't have the means to attend. On the bright side, between this and him filming in Vancouver, there should be lots of fodder for some lovely non-AU RPF in the near future, AMIRITE? Finally the universe is heeding the call of NEEDS MOAR JDM!!!

In other news, I rewatched Faith today. I think if I had to pick a single episode out of the entire series as my favorite, that one would be it. I loved it when it originally aired, and I love it now in the context of the later seasons. There's so much there wrt who Sam and Dean are on a fundamental level, you can see the groundwork for their character development in S4 and S5 especially. There's NOTHING I don't love about that episode.

Possibly one of my favorite things ever is Sam's "Watch me" in response to Dean's "But I’m gonna die. And you can’t stop it." Sam: ORLY? FUCK DEATH! I'M SAM WINCHESTER!! Seriously, it is so quintessentially Sam, stubborn and willing to do WHATEVER it takes to save Dean. And Dean's willingness to (be the first to) die, and all his interactions with Layla, and Sam's snapping back to the straight and narrow once Dean is okay, insisting that they can't kill people. *dreamy sigh*

On top of that, all the themes of faith and salvation and this exchange with Roy:

DEAN: Why? Why me? Out of all the sick people, why save me?

ROY: Well, like I said before, the Lord guides me. I looked into your heart, and you just stood out from all the rest.

DEAN: What did you see in my heart?

ROY: A young man with an important purpose. A job to do. And it isn’t finished.

*dreamy sigh* So freaking brilliant from beginning to end. I think that was possibly the episode that secured my undying love. It was one of the first episodes I felt compelled to write a coda for. SO MUCH LOVE!!!

*ahem* ANYWHO! Don't mind me, I'll just be over here fangirling all the things.

Blindfold reveals are popping up all over my flist! So much fun!! I've been waffling about whether I want to clean the fills I did up and repost them, or just link to them and leave it at that. They do need to be cleaned up for sure, but all-in-all, I think they're decent. Ish.

I have a couple other writing/editing projects I need to focus on at the moment, so I think I'll just link to them for now, and maybe go back and do the clean-up and reposting to my fic journal when I have some more time.

So! Without further ado, ( these are the porns I wrote )

HEY, INTERNETS! Let's talk porn for a moment!

Prompted by the closing of [livejournal.com profile] blindfold_spn tonight and the chat post over at [livejournal.com profile] spnroundtable, I has curiosities!

For those of you participating, do you plan to claim your fills? What are the deciding factors in that? Also, what makes you choose a prompt to fill? Do you tend to fill pairings/kinks that you love, or do you hold off on those and hope that someone else does it? Are you frantically working right now to finish that one last fill?

For reading purposes, do you tend to stick to certain tropes you know you'll love, or do you give most everything a shot and see what hits you right? Does the spirit of blindfold make you more likely to read something you'd normally skip on the regular kink meme? Are there pairings that you prefer for kink over your OTP?

Do you try and figure out who filled what when you're reading? Are certain people's styles obvious? (I'm curious about this especially! I've never been able to do that.)

*chinhands* Tell me things! Or leave a comment in the roundtable post! I'm not picky, just curious. (I think I have things set here so that you can comment anonymously, if you so desire)

I am trying to finish up my to-do list of grown-up responsibilities today. Obviously breaks to talk about porn are both good and necessary.
errant_jane: (Ponderous)
• I got some of those Sketchers that are supposed to make your ass look fabulous or whatever. They're surprisingly comfortable and if they do help tone my legs/butt/core/whatever, bonus! Most importantly, they're pink and grey. *priorities*

• I have finished my Gilmore Girls rewatch and have moved on to Veronica Mars (When Jo was Meg!) *___* Yay awesome girls on TV!! \o/ Veronica Mars is one of my favorite characters of all time. OF ALL TIME!!

• Speaking of awesome female characters, another one of my all-time favorites is Dani Reese from Life (So ticked that Life was cancelled and Castle got renewed *bitter*). My point here is that Fairly Legal premiers tonight, which I will be watching because it has Sarah Shahi in it. Here's hoping it will be awesome.

• I am definitely porned out. *sadface* I haven't managed to read more than a handful of blindfold fills, and only one SBP story. It is tragic!! I have a bunch of stuff bookmarked and, with any luck, I will have a different outlook in a few weeks. Is it weird that I still want to do fills, though?

• ♥ Vinnie VanLowe singing "Private Eyes" to Veronica.

• New Show tomorrow!!! I am excite!! \o/ APPARENTLY I WAS WRONG ABOUT THIS AND IT'S NOT NEW UNTIL NEXT WEEK. I FEEL VERY BETRAYED BY THE UNIVERSE RIGHT NOW. >:(

Kassie gave this to me for my birthday last year:

It lives on my windowsill. You can see why we're friends.

I got this from [livejournal.com profile] laulan (she posted the Iron Man one in her Awesome Monday post this week which also has a link to the "How Crayons Are Made" video *____*) and there are a bunch of them that are hilarious, but OMFG THIS:

And speaking of truthiness:

I'm all over the place today. I've either had too much coffee or not enough.

My friend [livejournal.com profile] rhiannonhero was talking about characters being rickrolled, so naturally I imagined Dean trying to rickroll Robo!Sam. He'd be all, "Hey, so check out that link I sent you. Possible alpha?" And Robo!Sam clicks and he's all *furrowed brow* "I don't know about alpha, but it definitely seems demonic in origin." And Dean's like, "How do you manage to suck the joy out of rickrolling? We really need to get your soul back." He tried to do it to Cas too, but Cas was like, "I enjoy this song." And then he kept singing it, so that really sort of backfired in a major way.

Poor Dean. It is hard to be him.
errant_jane: (Coffee Please)
• The episode of Scrubs with Colin Farrell is one of my all-time favorite things ever.

• I have gotten to the beginning of the Luke/Lorelai romance in my Gilmore Girls rewatch. I don't think I can overstate how much I love them together, especially in the beginning. There's just something about the way he watches her, with this smile like he can't believe how lucky he is, but also a little bit pleased/smug at how she responds to him and it's so sexy and HOT and glorious glorious payoff after seasons of UST and build-up. *___* I don't think I've ever felt so betrayed by a show as when they fucked that all up. (I probably won't rewatch S6 and S7...)

• Related to the above - I think I had a dream that Luke was my boyfriend (and/or I was Lorelai). It was pretty awesome, ngl.

• I have had an earache for the past day and a half, which is not awesome. I spent half the evening last night with the heating pad on it, but really, there's not much that I know to do. *pouts* It makes me grumpy.

• Oh! Oh! You know what else I love? What Not to Wear!! It is so awesome and fantastic and Stacy and Clinton are hilarious and sarcastic, but you can tell that they really want to empower people and it makes me all ♥___♥ Sometimes it makes me cry and/or smile a lot.

• Is it possible to get porned out?

• A friend came over Thursday night, and we watched Inception (FINALLY, okay?). It was conceptually awesome and visually very cool. I don't foresee myself becoming fannishly interested in it, but it was very enjoyable.

Okay, I think that's it for now. I need more coffee...
errant_jane: (Yay!)
Have officially signed up for [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang!! I am OTT excited, I don't even know why!! I want to start writing now! But I have to do some plotting first. Today, my plan is to go to the library for some research-related books. About LORE! *snickers*

For now I'm just spazzing about quite spazzily. Add this to impending [livejournal.com profile] salt_burn_porn and [livejournal.com profile] blindfold_spn, it is a great time to be in fandom!! \o/

:D :D *\o/* ♥!!! *jazz hands*
errant_jane: (H&H Internet Forever)
I have had a semi-productive weekend. I've done cleaning and ALL THE LAUNDRY! It's even put away! Like in the dresser and stuff! \o/

Fannishly, I have updated my sticky post of fic. I actually have two versions now, because of my OCD. My personal lj masterlist has all the things I've written since I started this lj, including my Jensen/Misha WiPs. My fic journal masterlist has all the stories I've written and completed in SPN, including the stories from my old journal. (I couldn't decide whether that was attention whorish or not, but for OCD archival purposes, I went ahead and included them. SIGH)

The whole thing took a ridiculously long time. Clearly I need to update that thing more than once a year. Now I am trying to clear out my inbox and replying to comments and emails in a very random manner indeed.

I've been having a Gilmore Girls marathon as I do things. I really love Paris. She's one of my favorite characters ever! Actually, I like most of the characters on GG. I really only hated Jess (were we ever supposed to like him?). Also, Rory was pretty dickish during the duration of that story line. (Guess where I am in my rewatch! Ha!) ETA: I LOVE Luke for always and always, and hate ASP for trying to eff up his character.

Also also! That Jared Padalecki kid is pretty cute. I wonder if he's done anything else...

Ummm, okay. I guess that's all for now.
errant_jane: (JDM EMBRACE HIM)
I wrote porn!! (It's Jensen/Jeff *warns for JDM*)

I also signed up for [livejournal.com profile] salt_burn_porn. I'm not sure what possessed me. I blame [livejournal.com profile] rhythmsextion, actually. With any luck, I won't make a complete fool of myself. I am, at the moment, optimistic. Am also very excited about impending blindfold. Which is hilarious, as I really do loathe the whole porn-writing process. I feel very accomplished once it's done, though.

Anyway, how YOU doin'?
errant_jane: (Sigh)
Dear internet,

Everyone except for [livejournal.com profile] dine is on notice for not bringing the hippocampus to my attention sooner. CLEARLY this is relevant to my interests. Feel shame for the gaps in my knowledge that you have failed to fill in, internets. Feel shame.

Disappointedly yours,

The sun is out, shining on the snow so that the whole world looks like a pretty, sparkling wonderland. Happy New Year!!

So far today I have finished cleaning up, and changed my sheets. I also made ten fairly specific resolutions I think I can reasonably accomplish in the coming year. My plan is to write a more detailed list in order to make sure this is the case. My overall plan for the year is to be more proactive. We'll see how that goes.

I hope those of you who had NYE plans had a wonderful night, made it home safely, and aren't in too much pain today. ♥ I watched Marry Poppins and Shrek 3, read a couple of fics and went to bed. Woke up to aforementioned sunshine, so I'm in an optimistic mood.

Right now I'm watching Wildfire as I sort through some stuff. It's a fairly silly show, but there are some things I really like about it, and it reaffirms my ridiculous girlcrush on Genevieve. She's so unbelievably adorable.

For lunch I am having traditional ham and bean soup (and black-eyed peas). Hooray!!

And, just because, my Brezsnyscope says:

Aries (March 21-April 19)

"Just because everything is different doesn't mean anything has changed," said writer Irene Peter. That should be cautionary advice for you in 2011, Aries. From what I can tell, it will be relatively easy for you to rearrange the way things look, but trickier to transform them from the inside out. You will have to be vigilant to keep from getting swept up in the giddiness of big talk at the expense of practical action. You'll have to push hard to make sure that seductive ideas are translated into concrete details. Can you do it? I think you can.

Oh, Brezsny! How are you always so relevant?

I know logically that New Year's is not a magical day, but I like the idea of fresh starts and all. It is what we make it. I hope that 2011 holds many great things for y'all!

♥
errant_jane: (Golden Unicorn)
There are a bunch of different versions of this as far as I can tell. I think I hit the major points.

The tl;dr version, for those who don't want to read the whole thing, goes like this: My big bang was my best story for the year, in many different ways. And then I wrote some other stuff too.

( Fanfic Meme: ALL THE STORIES! )

( Overall Thoughts about aforementioned stories )
errant_jane: (Red Woman)
HI, INTERNETS, I AM BACK!!! I have been too caught up in holiday drinking festivities to get online for like the past week. I was starting to get all twitchy as a result.

I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday/weekend/whatever!! I had a wonderful (if exhausting) Christmas and now I am all ready to do end-of-year memes and make impossible resolutions I have no hope of keeping. GOOD TIMES!!

The first of which is a writing one. I went through and did a rough add-up of my word counts of all the stories I posted for the year (at least the stuff I put up at [livejournal.com profile] storiesimakeup) and I wrote around 140k this year. That was without having any real writing goals set for the year (aside from participating in [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang). Considering I also moved across the country this year, I'm counting that as decent output.

So I'm thinking of doing [livejournal.com profile] getyourwordsout this year, but I'm unsure of what sort of goal I ought to set for myself. My writing for the year still falls under their "Modest Level" (150k), but as I plan on focusing much more on writing this year, I'm thinking of doing the 200k? Or 250k? Writing for nearly the whole month of December, I ended up with around 20k, and certainly not all of that was brilliant, so maybe I'd better stick with the 200k. HMMM.

Ahahaha, oh, my fascinating ponderings!! Alas, I do not have time to redeem this entry right now, as I have to go out and shovel snow before it gets completely dark. I hope that those of you also buried in snow are staying warm and safe. ♥!!!
errant_jane: (Cider)
I woke up at six a.m.!! IDEK, I may be taking a nap later on. (I also possibly had a dream about Tom Hardy. The ridiculous hilarity of this is impossible to articulate. It made me laugh.)

For those who celebrate it, MERRY CHRISTMAS, INTERNETS!! May you have a lovely day filled with things that make you happy (even if you don't celebrate it)!! My day looks like it's going to be filled with good foods, a few presents and finally getting to see Harry Potter (hooray!!).

Anyway, my exercise in stubbornness is finished! I AM EXCITE!!

♥ Day 25: The Best Thing About Christmas Morning - SPN RPF, Jared/Jensen, 450 words, PG

♥ Day 24: In a Winter Wonderland - SPN RPF, Jared/Jensen, 580 words, PG

♥ Day 23: It's the Thought That Counts - SPN RPF, Jared/Jensen, 850 words, PG

♥ Day 22: Misha Collins: Pegasus Wrangler - SPN RPF, Misha Collins/Jake Abel (sequel to Unicorns, Dragons, and Affairs of the Heart), 700 words, PG-13

♥ Day 21: A Game of Chance - SPN RPF, Jared/Jensen, 420 words, PG

♥ Days 11-20

♥ Days 1-10

\o/ I only have about twenty more minutes before everyone else gets up and I can have coffee and orange rolls! HOORAY!!
