errant_janeI was thinking about Mary Sues in a way that had absolutely nothing to do with Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Well, okay, maybe a little bit, but it's not the main point.
What I was actually thinking about was OFC's and how, while I am definitely on Team Slash, sometimes I kinda want to see the Winchester boys sexin' up the wimmins. Because really? Kinda hot, right? And I feel as though there is not nearly enough of it. (I have a side-related rant stemming from the time I went in search of Life fic - a particular type of story where, had it been a slash pairing, there would have been eleventy-billion of them. As it was, there were 0. Not that I'm still bitter or anything...)
So, I guess what I'm wondering is, if someone were to issue a Mary Sue challenge, would people be interested in participating?
I'm not actually talking Mary Sue like my subject line. More, here's an excuse to writedirty dirty het porn while the show is on hiatus your awesome OFC. Sexin' up Sam or Dean or *coughcoughJohncough*. Or whatever. I might, for example, write a story that started like this...

On paper, Jim Novak had just about everything going for him. Once upon a time, his mother had been a model. His father was twenty years her senior and a powerful business man. Jim was their token child to complete their picturesque American family.
At the brink of adulthood, Jim had grown into the good looks that his prettiness as a child had promised. He was attractive, wealthy and charming, which meant that he never lacked female company.
By his senior year of college, the lack of a challenge was starting to bum him out.
He must have been reflecting on this the day he met her, as he was walking across campus to his poly sci class. The perpetual rain they'd been having all week had momentarily ceased, the clouds parted and she was just standing there, illuminated by the sun.
The moment passed and Jim had to laugh at his flight of fancy. Handing out flyers in jeans and a t-shirt and brown jacket, typical college dress, there wasn't really anything about her that stood out for his attention to snag on. But snag it did and he altered his route a little to walk by her.
As it turned out, the flyer was for the campus bible group, which made Jim laugh.
The girl was pretty enough, with shoulder-length brown hair surrounding a heart-shaped face and she smiled in return, apparently unoffended. "I'm afraid I missed the joke."
Jim shrugged. "I'm not really a bible guy."
"Have you ever read it?" She asked it with a genuine curiosity, without a hint of aggressive evangelicalism.
"Can't say that I have," Jim admited. "But I can't really say that I'm particularly compelled to either. Yet," he added, a little smarmy, because the girl was pretty and why the hell not?
"Well, come to the meeting." She gestured at the flyer. "Maybe we can change your mind."
Jim moved to hand the flyer back. "I'm not really a joiner. But if you were interested in giving a one-on-one tutorial..."
She took the flyer and, instead of dismissing him, wrote her name and phone number on it and handed it back to him.
"Rachel," he read. "Seriously?" She didn't seem like the kind of girl who gave her phone number out to random guys. Jim was really just having a laugh.
"Sure, if you're serious." She smiled again and touched his hand. "God has a plan for you, Jimmy."
"Jim," he corrected automatically. And, really, the whole "God has a plan" thing should have creeped him out, but there was something about her. So he promised to call her and he actually meant it.
It wasn't until later that Jim stopped to try and remember exactly when during that exchange he had given her his name.

So, yeah. If someone were to issue such a challenge, or open a community or something, would anyone be interested? Bueller?
