IDK what it is about this week, but it's kind of draining me of my ability to think and process things in a reasonable manner. If I make it through tomorrow without punching one of my coworkers in the throat, that'll be awesome. I AM BRAINDEAD AND CRANKYPANTS.

It might be the ridiculous heat that's happening right now. The Fucking Weather says ITS FUCKING HOT AND THUNDERING. Both of these things are true. BLAHHHHHHHHHH

I was listening to my S5 playlist today and thinking about how much the songs that make me think "SPN" are filtered through Dean's POV. But, then, I think that's true for the show in general (not that it's about Dean, but that it is more from his perspective, um, if that makes sense?). IDK, it makes sense to me, but I have not the brainpower to articulate it at the moment.

There was a point somewhere in there, I think. Maybe someday I'll find it. Umm, what do you guys think of playlists/fanmixes/etc. If I threw mine up on the internets, would y'all be interested (read: Is it worth me trying to cajole someone into doing album art or whatever)?

I am totally going to bed at 9:00! Tomorrow is Friday! I thought it would never come.

I love fanmixes. It's free music, okay! :P Also, anything that has to do with SPN or Dean specifically gets the *grabby hands* from me.

Hoorays!! I will totally get it post-ready, then!

See, so what I did (because I'm a nerd) is pick a song that I felt represented each episode. My complete geek pleasure at this knows no bounds!

IAWTC, re: Deansongs.

Also: my local rock radio plays "Fire Woman" by the Cult all the time, and every time it's on, my brain goes to SPNland. Now, my cursory, not very in depth research tells me it's NEVER BEEN ON THE SHOW. What the heck.

Faaaanmixes. I love them, and ngl, most of my playlists on the pod are fan-related or from mixes, it's hard to listen to music otherwise these days. I've been stuck on the Dean POV myself lately, if only because the best part about the Dean POV is how many female vocalists totally fit without the usual cognitive dissonance! That I feel kind of bad for having in the first place, but...

I think at the very least, it gets me to give something a shot that I might not otherwise listen to? Like, "Oh, here's a good song!" vs. "Oh, here's a good song that is TOTALLY in Dean's headspace!" ORLY? Tell me more!! Ha!! No, that totally makes sense.

Actually, it's funny. I sent the playlist to a couple of people all, "Um, this isn't SUPPOSED to be shippy, btw." But then songs that fit Sam and Dean's dynamic tend to be, y'know. Romantic songs. I SWEAR it wasn't intended as such, though.

I've ALWAYS felt like SPN is through Dean's POV. I mainlined S1~3 before watching S4 as it aired, and I was so confused when I found out a lot of fandom felt like the earlier seasons were too focused on Sam, and now it's Dean's turn or whatever. Uh... Were we all watching the same show? x_x; Sam definitely had a "bigger" role in the sense that he had his deep dark destiny and special powers and blahblahblah, but even then it was all about how that affected DEAN, and how DEAN was torn up emotionally by their upbringing/father's death and how DEAN is always looking out for Sam etc. etc.

Sorry for rambling, anyway YES, I agree with you lol. It makes total sense and you are def not the only one to think that XD

I'm always interested in fanmixes :D

No, it totally makes sense, right? Because the first two seasons were so focused on Sam because DEAN was focused on Sam. Then Dean started having other shit to deal with. It even makes sense wrt what we see of John over the course of the series. The more Dean comes to terms with his daddy issues, the more we see some of the shittier stuff John did as a dad (though I still find John sympathetic, because I think they do a good job of always showing WHY).

So, yeah. Totally that!

Hooray!! I will totally get it ready for postings! I'm never sure, because the nature of the beast means you don't really get feedback on something like a fanmix. So, like, I think it's terribly awesome and clever, but it's full of songs I already liked. IDK how it will come across to someone else, y'know?

I've never really had much occasion to listen to fanmixes (I see them around, and it's not like I have anything against them, I just never get around to downloading them), however, I totally volunteer to do the artwork if you decide to post it. I haven't designed anything for the SPN fandom, but I love love love doing graphic design work, and a mix cover sounds like it would be a really fun project.

If you're interested. :)

I'm still fairly new to them and they're often hit or miss for me. I've only started making them the past couple seasons because the music I listen to (independent alt.country, mostly) lends itself very well to apocalyptic themes. Aw! Someone already pm'd me about it, but if that falls through, I will totally take you up on it? I always feel bad asking for art because it's something I CANNOT do. IDK, it's weird. /o\ But thank you so much for the offer!!

Haha, no problem, and I'd definitely be up for it if you end up needing/wanting me to do it. And it's something I LOVE to do (not really actual DRAWING, but the photoshop/illustrator aspect and typography stuff), so don't feel bad! Because I'm geek enough that it gets me all excited and giddy lol.

Most SPN fanmixes make me lol endlessly, as maybe 90% of the time they're full of music that Dean would heartily mock Sam for enjoying.

So yes, I enjoy them, but perhaps not in the way intended. hee.

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DL AND JUDGE MY FANMIX!!!

Heh. They tend to be really hit or miss for me, just because of the kind of music I listen to. The one I made has a song for each episode and is probably not musics that Sam and Dean would listen to, but c'mon. You can only have so many butt/cock/mullet rock mixes before they start to get redundant. And you know Sam totally listens to whiney emo rock.

I hear ya on the weather man. It's been freaking hot over on my side too. One day it will be hot as all get out and then BOOM! Thunder storm.

And you want to hear something cool? I was having a real bad day and work just added it onto it. Well, when it was on the oldies station guess what song came on: "Eye of the Tiger"! I kid you not. I pictured Jensen doing his rock out thing and it just made fill better. To top it off, the next day "Wanted Dean or Alive" came on and I was like: "Oh hell yeah!" I tried to refrain myself and pulling a Dean and singing out.

Lately, I've been listening to songs and go: "That has Dean written all over it."
