I continue to be distracted and whiny today. I was thrown off of my writing focus by needing to go to the grocery store. Thwarted by groceries. FML.

Am half-tempted to type up my rantypants about wank. It is essentially a longer version of this: Bitter fangirls are bitter, people are wanky on the internet, you can't believe everything you read online (a.k.a. anonymous comments lack a certain credibility) and that this is what happens when people run out of porn and need to get off on something else.

But see above comment about grocery thwartings.

So instead, a cracked link, which is hilarious!

Fanfiction had its beginnings among Star Trek fans in the 70's, when they would trade homemade zines with collected stories about their favorite characters. It remained a niche market until the invention of the Internet by Al Gore, which facilitated the creation of at least 700 thousand billion fanfics every year.

My favorite is the hurt/comfort part.

I love that Cracked essay on fanfic! esp the pie chart.

groceries can be very thwarty - pls to be writing more. i am trying to finish something myself i may make you read.

re: wank. Fandom is just acting out its own hurt/comfort narrative. We'll have a hate meme followed by a love meme, and then the healing sex as provided in a porn meme.

Yes!! The pie chart! And the winged unicorn as a graphic representation of genfic!! The whole thing made me cackle.

I wrote some last night, but am feeling kind of meh about it. I am totally up for audiencing!

It's funny because it's true! Oh, fandom. You are so utterly predictable. Wank a month into hiatus? BNFs are OMGSOMEEN! BRING ON THE PORN!!

In my head, Misha totes started the wank to see just how crazy fandom could get. He was curious.

If this has to do with SPN,should I be glad I take care to avoid anything not involving fanfic?

Ngl, I have a weakness for ppl who analyze fan fiction specifically and fandom in general. Major lols to me for hopping aboard the crazy starship, the original fandom.

Really, there is no such thing as a non-crazy fandom. Someone who tells you their fandom isn't crazy is a)naive b)lying or c)part of a new fandom where the crazy wank hasn't happened yet.

SPN isn't really that bad.

I heard a lot about the SPN fandom, starting from years back. It's not the best first impression, I have to admit, although no doubt nothing on the level of others.

Lol, I totally wasn't there when one of my fandoms got assaulted by a series of trolls. Apparently it was pretty epic and a bit disgusting, but many members rallied to turn them into a series of massive threads of love...until the mods locked and deleted them.

Oh Internet.
